Rent one of Scotland’s most beautiful venues
Castle - Outskirt
This stunning new venue on Edinburgh’s doorstep mixes contemporary modern luxury within a traditional setting. Just eight miles west of Scotland’s capital city, this privately-owned 18th century Baronial castle, which has only ever been in the hands of two families in its 162-year history, has been unveiled by the Marshall family as an exclusive-use property and events venue, nestled among 32 acres of formal gardens and woodland. The 150 metre tree-lined drive and dramatic lighting make an unforgettable first impression.
All of the rooms are individually styled, spacious and have breathtaking views of the 32 acre castle grounds. The ensuite bathrooms feature hand-made, roll-top baths, marble tiles, underfloor heating and walk-in showers. Wake up in your very own Victorian castle with modern comforts, such as WiFi and satellite television in each room.
The castle’s private suite, Carlowrie One, is the ultimate in luxurious living. Spread over 115 elegantly designed square metres, indulge yourself in its two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, with stunning dining and living space. Indulge in breakfast in your own perfectly manicured, private garden and discover the castle’s most intimate and secluded space.
Opened in May 2015, the newly renovated castle mixes contemporary modern luxury within a traditional setting. Built in 1852, Carlowrie is privately owned by the Marshall family, who are one of only two families to have lived in the castle and called it home. Today it is one of Edinburgh’s most exciting new venues, located just under 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and an hour from Glasgow Airport.
Your celebration at Carlowrie Castle, one of Scotland’s most beautiful venues, will be created especially for you and catered for by Wild Thyme, one of Scotland’s leading and award-winning catering companies.

Carlowrie Castle in Scotland's History
In the mid 19th century, the Hutchison family commissioned David Rhind to design the castle. He was also responsible for what is now the Dome on Edinburgh’s George Street. In its entire history, Carlowrie Castle has only ever been residence to two families: the man who commissioned its build - Thomas Hutchinson - and the Marshall Family, who bought the property in 1982.
FROM THE HUTCHINSONS
The castle was first home to Thomas Hutchison, a wine merchant and his wife, Jean Wylie, and their 5 children. Their daughter, Isabelle Wylie Hutchison, became a pioneering Arctic traveller and author, searching for rare plants. Many of the plants she collected are still in the grounds today.TO THE MARSHALLS
Today the current owners, the Marshalls, have lovingly renovated the castle to be a modern, luxurious venue that is a real hidden gem on Edinburgh’s doorstep.PRICING RATES
