Each of the cottages sleeps between six and 10 people, as history meets modern design. Built on the site of a World War One flying boat station, these properties are contemporary and stylish both inside and out. With the New Grimsby Harbour right on the doorstep there really are fewer more idyllic spots in the whole of the United Kingdom.
The cotagges
On the ground floor, the spacious open plan living and dining room is the social hub of each cottage. Wooden flooring adorns the entire property, while comfy sofas sit in front of the wood burning stove and there is a dining table and chairs sitting up to 10 people. The works of some of Cornwall’s most renowned artists sits proudly on the walls, while glass doors open out onto the terrace and the spectacular views beyond. There is outdoor furniture and a BBQ in the garden, while many of the cottages enjoy direct access to Farm Beach.
The kitchen is fully equipped so those staying can create culinary delights, while the bedrooms are found on the first floor level. The master bedroom sits above the living area and has its own balcony and also frames the amazing scenery beyond – looking out towards the neighbouring island of Bryher and the Bishop Rock lighthouse in the distance.
Surroundings
Tresco Stores and Deli is close by and ideal for picking up some local treats, while the Flying Boat Restaurant is perfect for a drink or meal out. Alternatively head out onto the beach for a barbecue. Tresco Island Spa is also right on the doorstep and guests of Flying Boat Cottages enjoy full access, with it boasting three swimming pools, tennis courts, a hot tub, steam room, sauna and gym. The island is also home to Tresco Abbey Garden – a glorious exception adorned by plants from across the world’s Mediterranean climate zones, from Brazil to New Zealand and Burma to South Africa.
