The Highlights…

Right on the doorstep of the beautiful Monsal Dale, the imposing Castle Cliffe is a self-catering private house boasting nine bedrooms across two floors. England’s Peak District is a National Park enjoying nationwide renown for its extraordinary landscapes, characterised by dramatic wooded hillsides, plunging valleys, and an abundance of shimmering, unspoilt lakes. Benefitting from pragmatic stewardship to maintain the picturesque scenery which draws walkers, birdwatchers, and artists from all over the world, the Peak District is one of the finest examples of stunning British topography.

Castle Cliffe is a spacious house right in the heart of the Peak District. On the first floor, you’ll find several family spaces, designed and furnished to guarantee that even larger groups will have sufficient room to eat together, unwind, and enjoy themselves after a long day’s walking the Peaks. Prepare a serious meal on the traditional aga, in keeping with Castle Cliffe’s well-preserved farmhouse aesthetic, or cook up a storm on the more contemporary cooker, both of which sit in the well appointed private kitchen. Sit down as a full group of twenty two at the central dining table, or indulge in the hardwood furniture on the patio which makes al fresco dining such a treat. Outdoors you’ll find a walled garden, gas fired barbecue, and your very own paddock, allowing younger children to play throughout the day, with parents safe in the knowledge that they’re secure.

In the evenings, relax in front of the television, or congregate around the woodburning stove as you make plans for the next day’s hike. A fully equipped laundry room on this level will ensure that whatever the weather, you’ll have clean and dry kit the next day.

On the first and second floors, seven en-suite bedrooms have been configured for maximum flexibility. Regardless of family sizes and preferred sleeping arrangements, Castle Cliffe will be able to accommodate you without compromise. The remaining two bedrooms share a luxury bathroom with free-standing bathtub. Every bedroom benefits from the interior style which makes Castle Cliffe so comfortable; high-end fitted wet-rooms are finished in warm, neutral tiles, and bedroom furniture is unpretentious, charming, and built to last. With substantial, original windows, you can expect a breath-taking uninterrupted view of some of England’s loveliest scenery from your very own bedroom.

Most visitors will wake up desperate to head straight out and spend the day hiking through the peaks. The award-winning Haddon Hall and Chatsworth stately homes are just a few miles away. Between the plague village of Eyam, the nationally celebrated Castleton caverns, and Bakewell, a charming market town, there are daytrips to suit everybody in your extended group. The Tideswell School of Food nearby accepts larger group bookings.
