Misool Eco Resort can be found just south of the equator, in Southern Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Formerly a shark-finning camp, the island now forms the heart of a 1220 km² Marine Protected Area, which was initiated by the resort’s owners in 2005.
Each and every one of the accommodation cottages on the Misool Eco Resort have been meticulously designed for comfort, privacy, and sustainability. Guests may choose from a variety of living spaces – all of which form home to Balinese-style open air bathrooms, air-conditioning, fresh hot and cold showers, mini-bars, in-room safes, and handcrafted furniture and fittings and more. The eight rustically-chic Water Cottages are found within the island’s North Lagoon – just steps away from the Dive Centre and restaurant. For guests seeking a little more space and seclusion however, LCH Travel team recommends checking in to one of the island’s Deluxe Villa accommodations. How to Get There
In order to make the most of their private island vacation, we advise all international guests to fly into Jakarta at least one day prior to check in. From here, an internal flight connects you to the town Sorong and the local harbor. A member of the Misool team will then accompany you on a 4-5 hour private speedboat transfer to your final destination.
Best Time To Travel
The weather in this part of the world is not particularly seasonal, meaning there’s never a bad time to travel. Divers may like to know that visibility is typically at its best in November and February/March. September and October bring massive schools of bait fish, which attract bigger hunting fish and Mobula rays. The south winds in May and June bring more sharks and pelagics. Please note – the Misool Eco Resort closes for maintenance between July and early September.
