Herefordshire Castle, Ledbury, England – Midlands

The Castle was built in 1812 and designed to resemble a medieval fortress defending the Welsh border. The result is a triumphant, authoritative castle, looking every bit the Norman part. The 5000 acre estate is as spectacular as the castle, with a 300 acre deer park and picturesque lake.

Set in the pretty county of Herefordshire, this is a magnificent venue for business groups, weddings or private events. Guests will be impressed as they approach the dramatic towered fortress, and the grandeur of the state rooms is sure to amaze.

The décor ranges from Medieval to Renaissance to Victorian Gothic. Oil paintings and suits of armour complement the castle’s ornate interior, with sumptuous warm colours, beautiful chandeliers and grand high ceilings. An event in such a setting is truly a majestic experience.

The castle offers a choice of grand function rooms. The Hall is breath-taking with its 60 foot ceiling, roaring fireplaces and suits of armour. The Drawing Room offers an ornate fireplace, ceiling and chandelier, a feast for the eyes. The family silver decorates the atmospheric dining room, perfect for a formal dinner catered by professional chefs, using the best local fresh produce.

For those who wish to include an overnight stay in their programme,  guest bedrooms are available, each individually designed with original works of art, some with four-poster beds and stunning views of the lake and the Malvern Hills.

The castle is able to cater for an endless variety of entertainment, indoors and out. A string quartet or a jazz band can play on the terrace as guests take in the scenery, or guests can listen to a pianist while enjoying a wine-tasting. Fireworks can add even more spectacle to the evening.

The grounds of the castle are equally exciting: the deer park and the hills are ideal for walking, or for a little more adventure, the local wood provides a track for 4×4 vehicles. One can play the Norman soldier with some archery and falconry, or do clay pigeon shooting from atop the castle ramparts; quad-biking and pilot-buggy racing are also on offer. The possibilities are endless in this incredible estate.
