The domain is set on the edge of a picturesque medieval village with easy access to all local amenities and close to the Dordogne River.

Chateau Lotoise is a 15th century medieval château and, this makes it an unforgettable experience to spend your holidays there. The original medieval château was built circa 1440 and served as a defensive structure to protect the inhabitants against the British during the 100 Years War. The castle was modified during the 16th and 17th centuries and the current residential wing dates from the early 20th century with cellars from the 17th century. It has recently been renovated to adjust to modern High Standards.

The domain includes an entrance gate with renovated guest house (independent building and is always rented together with the chateau in the high season). This guesthouse has one large bedroom and two guard rooms in the entrance towers converted into two bedrooms with one queen size bed and one single bed suitable for teenagers or adventurers, bathroom, kitchen and simple living-room on the ground floor in the gite.

There are several floors in the Chateau. There is the cellar with two large rooms with original domed ceiling from the 17th century and underfloor heating, which can be used for weddings or your own private party…

On the ground floor there is a large reception room divided in two parts with an impressive fireplace and satellite TV/DVD and WIFI. In the convivial dining room you’ll find an open stone fireplace and a table that suits 14 people. The dining room leads to the modern, fully equipped kitchen and to the terrace with spectacular views over the cliff… (you are 80 meters above the ground….)

On the first floor are four magnificent private double bedrooms with glorious en-suite bathrooms. The fifth bedroom, in the tower, is an exclusive and very romantic room with a ‘spa’ bathroom, an incredible four poster bed and a huge fireplace. All the rooms and bathrooms have recently been carefully renovated and decorated to a style befitting their historical past.

There is a sizeable garden flanking the driveway with a beautiful huge pool (4 x 12) for you to savour the wonderful French summers and watch the sunset while having a nice barbecue at the pool. The many terraces and the massive walled, medieval garden sets you above the valley below, while providing wonderful areas to enjoy the tranquillity and silence that the grassy park affords you.

Together with the Gîte the chateau can easily lodge 14 to 16 people. Airconditioning, Table tennis, mini foot, badminton, internet, Tennis court in the village 100meters away. Here you will find also a restaurant, shop and post office. Gardener and maid (2 hours every other day).

Special services: we also offer the service of a Private Chef, Catering, Holistic Massage at the chateau, Golf Outings and a Private Wine Guide who can take you on a tour, this all to make your French experience an unforgettable one….

History: According to local legend there are underground tunnels linking the domain to the châteaux of Gourdon, Rocanadel, Masclat and Fenelon. During the French revolution the vendor threw golden keels in the well to collect at a later date, he never came back and they remain unfound. The original castle was burnt down during the revolution in a protest over corn. The subsequent château has taken its place and offers a more open and welcoming feel. Perched on top of a cliff facing due south and west this château is unique not only in its positioning but also in its rich heritage.
